### Who is Household Pay for?

Two kinds of people. [Households](https://householdpay.app/household/) who hire help—a housekeeper, nanny, gardener, caregiver, or tutor—and want a clear record of hours, wages, and payments. And [the people who do that work](https://householdpay.app/staff-gig/), who want to log their hours for each client and see what they’re owed. You choose your profile when you first open the app.

### Does the app send money?

No. Household Pay records payments you make outside the app. Pay using your usual method, then save the amount, date, method, and work covered in your payment ledger.

### Do I need an account or internet connection?

No Household Pay account is required, and core tracking works offline. Optional iCloud sync on iOS and Google Drive sync on Android use your own cloud account. [Learn about storage and backups.](https://householdpay.app/data-management/)

### Does it handle payroll taxes or other currencies?

You choose your household’s currency in the app—any ISO currency, with the default following your device’s region—and amounts are recorded in that one currency without exchange-rate conversion. The app tracks hours, wages, and payment records; it does not calculate payroll taxes or deductions, decide which overtime rules apply to you, or file payroll returns. Optional overtime and premium-day rules calculate only what you set up.

### Can I move records between devices?

You can create encrypted backups to restore in the app, or share PDF and CSV exports for use outside it. Optional iCloud sync and Google Drive sync help you manage records on their respective platforms; they do not automatically sync between iOS and Android.
