Before you use Household Pay

  • Household Pay is a recordkeeping tool for household work and payments; it does not send money.

1. Agreement and eligibility

Household Pay is provided by Juan Mosquera (“we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Service govern your use of the Household Pay apps for iOS and Android, householdpay.app, and related support communications.

By downloading, accessing, or using Household Pay, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app or website. You must be legally able to enter into this agreement and use the service only where it is lawful to do so.

2. The service

Household Pay helps you organize hours, wages, payment records, reminders, receipts, invoices, statements, reports, and exports for work in the home, either as a household that hires staff (the Household profile) or as a worker who serves households (the Staff GIG profile). The app records information you enter; it does not send or collect money, connect to your bank, calculate or remit payroll or other taxes, or act as an employer of your staff or an agent for your clients.

You may use Household Pay for your own legitimate recordkeeping: for your household’s staff, or, in the Staff GIG profile, for work you personally perform for your own clients. Do not use it to run a payroll, bookkeeping, staffing, or similar service that keeps records on behalf of other people unless we separately agree in writing.

3. Your records, devices, and exports

You are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and legality of the information you enter, including having a lawful basis to keep and use staff or client information. You are also responsible for securing your device, choosing who can access it, and reviewing calculations, reports, receipts, and exports before you rely on or share them.

Household Pay works without a Household Pay account. On iOS, you may choose to enable iCloud sync through your Apple Account. On Android, optional Google Drive sync, available in the Household profile, uses private app storage in your Google Account. Apple and Google provide these services under their own terms and privacy policies. The services do not automatically sync across platforms. Device backups, transfers, sharing tools, and third-party services can create additional copies of your records; manage those copies using the applicable device or service settings.

Both apps offer passphrase-encrypted backup files. You are responsible for keeping those files and their passphrases safe; we cannot recover a forgotten passphrase. Each backup belongs to one profile, and restoring it replaces that profile’s existing records. PDF and CSV exports are separate readable copies, not in-app restore files. See Manage your records for instructions.

When you share or export records, the recipient or service you select handles its copy under its own terms. We are not responsible for files you send, recipients’ handling of them, or the availability of third-party services.

4. No financial, legal, tax, or employment advice

Household Pay is not a substitute for professional advice. Nothing in the app, website, calculations, templates, reports, or support materials is financial, legal, tax, accounting, payroll, insurance, or employment advice. Laws and obligations can vary by location and situation; consult a qualified professional when you need advice.

You are responsible for determining worker classification, pay rates, overtime, tax withholding, tax filings, benefits, record-retention requirements, and all other obligations that apply to you. Verify every amount before paying anyone or making a filing.

Invoices and statements created in the Staff GIG profile are records of your work. They are not tax invoices, and you are responsible for any invoicing, tax, and reporting requirements that apply to you.

5. Acceptable use

Do not misuse Household Pay. For example, do not use it to violate law or another person’s rights, enter malicious code, interfere with the app or website, attempt to gain unauthorized access, misrepresent its outputs as professional advice, or use it in a way that could harm us, other users, or third parties.

6. Availability and changes

We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of Household Pay, including features and platform support. We do not promise that the service will always be available, error-free, secure, or compatible with every device, operating-system version, or third-party service.

Keep copies of important records and exports that you need. You are responsible for maintaining backups appropriate to your needs.

7. Ownership and feedback

We and our licensors retain ownership of Household Pay, including its software, design, branding, and content. Subject to these terms and applicable app-store terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose.

If you send feedback or suggestions, you allow us to use them without restriction or compensation. You keep responsibility for the records and other information you provide.

8. Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by law, Household Pay is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We do not warrant that the service or any calculation, report, reminder, export, or other output will be complete, accurate, timely, or suitable for your needs.

To the extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, savings, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from your use of or inability to use Household Pay. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

9. Ending use

You may stop using Household Pay at any time. You can delete local app data and manage backups, cloud sync, exports, and shared copies using the relevant app, device, Apple, Google, or third-party service settings. See the Privacy Policy’s retention and deletion guidance for more detail.

We may suspend or end your access to the service if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should continue after use ends will continue to apply.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date. Your continued use after the updated terms take effect means you accept them, to the extent permitted by law. If a change requires additional notice or consent, we will provide it as required.

Questions about these terms can be sent to Juan Mosquera, the provider of Household Pay, at support@householdpay.app. For app help, visit Support.
